Christmas...
Christmas is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Christ, the venerable Master of the Christian people. Christmas is celebrated in many countries around the world as well as in Sri Lanka, commemorating the birth of the great Lord Jesus Christ who brought peace into the world. Christmas is celebrated in Sri Lanka in particular, regardless of race or religion.
Christmas is celebrated at midnight on December 24th. On December 25, people celebrate Christmas with joy and fun throughout the day. On Christmas day, well-dressed Christians go to church and attend services. They engage in religious activities commemorating the birth of Jesus.
During the Christmas season, Christians decorate the temples and the surroundings of their homes in a beautiful way. Everyone celebrates Christmas as best they can, regardless of caste or creed. Every house, every street is decorated with light bulbs.
The singing of "Christmas carols" is also an important part of this festival. These carols originated in Sri Lanka during the Portuguese period. Rev. Fr. Jacome Gonzalez is a pioneer of carol writing in Sri Lanka.
Giving Greetings and Gifts on Christmas Day is another special feature of Christmas. Giving each other gifts is a way of appreciating and interpreting Jesus' vision. Santa's been up all night - delivering Christmas presents to millions of children across the world. This Santa Claus concept was started by Father St. Nicholas who lived in Turkey.
Peace, happiness, unity, unity, gratitude and coexistence can all be developed at Christmas. Although Christmas is primarily a religious event, it is also a culturally and socially significant national event. As a Buddhist, I also enjoy and love Christmas.
